Celebrate National Poetry Month this April!

Join us for a special celebration of National Poetry Month with the Poet-Imagery Tea Event, hosted by the SaddleBrooke Writers Group. This unique event will showcase the work of local poets and writers as they bring their words to life through vivid imagery.

About National Poetry Month:

Launched by the Academy of American Poets in April 1996, National Poetry Month reminds us of the power and relevance of poetry in our culture. Over the years, it has become the largest literary celebration in the world, uniting poets, readers, students, teachers, librarians and literary enthusiasts from all walks of life. This month is a reminder that poetry is an essential part of who we are.

What is Imagery Poetry?

Imagery in poetry is more than just descriptive language—it’s an invitation to experience the poem. By engaging the senses—sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste—imagery allows readers to feel deeply and immerse themselves in the poet's world. At the Poet-Tea event, local poets will weave vibrant visual images into their performances, with slides to accompany their words, allowing the audience to follow along with each evocative line.
