Socrates@SaddleBrooke concludes its unique five-year investigation of the relationship of science to faith by answering YES to a Big Question, “Has Science Rediscovered a Creator?” After examining 37 lines of evidence across cosmology, origin‑of‑life research, evolutionary biology, psychology, and neuroscience, our conclusion surprised many of the 1,000+ participants: modern science increasingly points not to an unguided universe, but to a Creator.
The last remaining Big Question then is, “What or Who Is this Creator God?” and this will be the subject of the final presentation by Dr. Stuart Orr, founder and emeritus president of the Socrates@SaddleBrooke club.
If the evidence is so compelling, why does the scientific establishment refuse even to entertain the God question? Why does the National Academy of Sciences ban the topic from discussion? Why are public‑school students taught a single narrative? Why is Intelligent Design dismissed, and its advocates pushed out of the academy?
And if a Creator exists, which God are we talking about? The God of Judaism, Christianity, or Islam? The deities of the East? Something else entirely? What evidence can guide us? Carl Sagan famously declared the debate closed: “The Cosmos is all there is, all there ever was, and all there ever will be.” But most of us don’t live as if we’re cosmic accidents. We rise each morning seeking meaning, relationship, and purpose. Without them, life collapses into emptiness.
Join us for a bold, unflinching conversation with Dr. Stuart Orr, founder and emeritus president of Socrates@SaddleBrooke, as he shares the scientific and personal journey to faith which was prompted by his need for answers to the Big Questions of life and guided by his love of science and its methodology.
