The room was full of joy and laughter as Senior Village celebrated members’ January and February birthdays with a Valentine themed party at HOA 1 Arts and Crafts room. Twenty-eight members and guests attended the gathering hosted by Senior Village volunteers Fariba Alipour and Margrit Wehrli. Guests enjoyed cupcakes baked by Joann Bosworth and Donna Twining.

The group shared how long they’ve been residents here in SaddleBrooke and stories of what brings them joy. Unanimously, these members love living here. This group is active in tennis, golf and swimming. Family and friends are a very important part of everyone’s lives here. Connection is the underlying theme of what brings people joy. Senior Village supports making those connections with these events.

Following on the theme of love, members shared how their spouse or partner brings joy to their lives. Carolyn and Michael McSadden have been married for 73 years! The Toensings told their unique story of how they married on NBC television on October 22, 1957.

The couple planned a ceremony in Fargo, ND., however a tornado damaged the church. Patrice and her sister had enjoyed watching the television show Bride and Groom on NBC. That sparked the idea of writing a letter to be contestants on the show. Patrice’s letter was accepted and they were married in the NBC studio and it was broadcast live on the program.
