One of the most moving weeks of the Church Calendar is the week we call Holy Week.
This year Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday, March 29th, when Christians will commemorate Jesus’ entrance into the Holy City of Jerusalem. It was a joy filled occasion some two thousand years as the crowds lined the path cheering Jesus on as he rode a lowly donkey. And just like that day so many centuries ago, we will be cheering and declaring our gratitude for Christ’s Good News of Love, Hope, Joy and Peace.
Later in the week, Thursday, April 2nd at 4:30 pm, we invite you to join us for a Maundy Thursday service. This will be a contemplative time of worship in our sanctuary as we remember Jesus’ last meal with his disciples. There will be time of listening to scripture, a time of reflection, as we consider the symbols of the towel and wash basin Jesus washed his disciples’ feet to emphasize the call for his followers to serve their neighbor, and opportunity to receive holy communion.
Easter Sunday, April 5th, begins with a Sunrise Service at 6:30 am at our Stations of the Cross. We will meet at the final station - The Empty Tomb. I hope you will come and hear the good news of Jesus’ first disciples coming to realize that Christ is risen! Then at 10:00 am join us for Morning Worship as we celebrate the risen Christ! Friends, if you are seeking Good News, if you have known grief or fear, if you have felt lost or in need of some hope, I believe these Holy Week services will meet your need.
