Portraits of Mr. and Mrs. Hopkins flank the copper hood of the living room fireplace. The Polish artist Boleslaw Jan Czedekowski painted them on one of his regular visits to the United States in 1957. Formerly a royal painter for the Hapsburgs, he has not retired to his Vienna home.
