A 16-year-old Arizona girl was arrested Sunday after border agents said she tried to smuggle 185 pounds of marijuana across the border at Lukeville.
The Glendale girl — along with two adult women passengers — were in a Volkswagen sedan when U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped it for a secondary inspection, a news release said.
A drug-sniffing dog alerted on the car and officers found 12 packages of pot worth about $92,550.
Officers processed the drugs and vehicle for seizure. The teen, who was driving the car, and the women — 23 and 24 years old — were referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
None of the trio was named in the news release.
