A narcotics detection dog sniffed out more than half a million dollars worth of methamphetamine in an SUV at the Nogales border.
A 35-year-old Mexican man was arrested Tuesday for trying to smuggle nearly 35 pounds of methamphetamine, valued in excess of $540,000, through the Nogales port of entry, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said in a news release.
After the dog alerted to the presence of drugs in a GMC SUV, Customs and Border Protection officers found 32 packages of meth hidden in the front tires.
The vehicle and drugs were processed for seizure. The driver was turned over to agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
