Port officers in Nogales seized nearly 6,000 pounds of marijuana found in a tractor-trailer rig that was also carrying fiber optic cables.
The drugs were worth nearly $3 million, according to a news release from Customs and Border Protection.
On Wednesday, CBP officers using a drug dog at the Mariposa Commercial Port of Entry discovered the bundles in a rig driven by a 39-year-old Nogales, Sonora, man.
The rig and the drugs were seized. The driver was turned over the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
On Oct. 24 officers seized nearly $2.3 million worth of marijuana, about 4,700 pounds, in a commercial shipment of electrical components.
