TUCSON, Ariz.— Border Patrol agents say a woman was arrested at a Tucson area checkpoint after nearly 7 pounds of heroin was found on her body.
Officials with U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced Friday that 22-year-old Brisseth Karina Gallardo-Ruiz, is facing narcotics-smuggling charges.
They say Gallardo-Ruiz, who is a U.S. citizen, was the female passenger in a vehicle held in a secondary inspection area.
Agents say they located two packages of heroin on her.
The heroin weight nearly 7 pounds and is estimated to be valued at $116,000.
Authorities did not say if Gallardo-Ruiz has retained an attorney since the Tuesday arrest.
