In early November, eighty-eight SMGA members competed in the Association’s annual three-day Member Tournament. Players were grouped into five flights, with two-man teams rotating through three popular formats: Best Ball on Day One, Shamble on Day Two and Scramble on Day Three.
For those new to these formats, here is a quick overview:
- Best Ball – Both players play their own ball from tee to green, and the team score is the lower of the two.
- Shamble – Both players tee off, the team selects the best drive, then each plays his own ball into the hole. The lower score counts.
- Scramble – Both players hit each shot from the team’s selected best position, recording a single team score per hole.
Teams placing in the top half of their flight each day earned payouts of $20 to $60. On the final day, cumulative three-day team scores also earned flight-level awards. Congratulations to all participants for making this one of the most enjoyable and competitive Member–Member events to date.
We extend our sincere appreciation to our outstanding sponsors, whose continued support allows the SMGA to offer generous payouts and host high-quality events throughout the year.
