MONTROSE, Iowa (AP) — A former eastern Iowa mayor who has logged more than 1,800 skydiving jumps plans to parachute into a rodeo event with an American flag rippling behind him.
The Hawk Eye in Burlington reports (http://bit.ly/2bRcD0f ) that 68-year-old Bobby Reid has been throwing himself out of airplanes since his 20s. The former Montrose mayor is set to skydive into this year's Tri-State Rodeo Arena on Thursday night.
Reid has been kicking off the multi-day event with his skydiving antics since 1988. He learned how to skydive in 1968 and performed in shows in the early 1970s. He gave up skydiving for nine years after getting married in 1976 and became a bull rider.
