Upside: Basile returns after lifting the Roadrunners into their first-ever NCAA tournament last season with a last-second three-pointer over New Mexico State. Two other guards named to the WAC all-tournament team return, too, and the Bakersfield defense should again be the WAC’s best.
Downside: The Roadrunners lost two key inside players, Kevin Mays and Aly Ahmed, and competition for the WAC’s one NCAA tournament bid will be stiff again from New Mexico State and Grand Canyon.
