Question: "I travel to Benson on occasion, and I've noticed that the Marsh Exit (291 on I-10) is now open. Why does this look like the proverbial bridge to nowhere?" Wayno Guerrini wrote.
Answer: The new interchange, west of the old one, still connects to Marsh Station Road. The old overpass is too low for some trucks, which must take a 65-mile detour to avoid going under it, said Linda Ritter of the Arizona Department of Transportation. The old bridge will be demolished, she said, as will the old Union Pacific Railroad bridge. After a new one is built, taller trucks can use I-10.
