• Mount Graham is known to the Apache as Dzil Nchaa Sian.
• Individual and relay runners will travel almost 200 miles in two days.
• This year's event is the tribe's 19th annual.
• 130 runners are expected to participate and several hundred more meet them atop Mount Graham for the final ceremonies.
• The run began as a response to the University of Arizona building the Mount Graham International Observatory in the 1990s. The Apache consider the mountain holy and the construction a desecration of the sacred site.
