Ocotillo Elementary opened in 1988 and was recognized in 2004 by the U.S. government as being among the most improved schools in the state. For the last five years, it was recognized as a performing-plus school by Arizona LEARNS, a state rating system. Before 1988, it was Valencia Elementary School. It opened in 1976 to serve special-education students.
