For 100 years, Rotary Club of Tucson members have been placing 'service above self' and putting gears into motion to improve the quality of life for fellow human beings locally, nationally and around the world.
Whether the need is learning, health care, family/life skills, workforce training or shelter, turning obstacles into opportunities is what challenges the Rotary Club of Tucson.
Rotary provides support in helping families with early childhood literacy resources. Rotary responds to feeding the hungry through Feed My Starving Children and the Community Food Bank.
Rotary gives the gift of mobility by providing wheelchairs in Mexico. Rotary keeps kids off the street through donations to Boys and Girls Clubs of Tucson. Rotary helps Goodwill and Job Path enhance people's job skills so they can find meaningful employment.
Through your support of the Rotary Club of Tucson, your gift enriches you, the people you help and our community.
Not to be confused with the Rotary International Foundation, The Rotary Club of Tucson Foundation is a private 501(c)(3) organization started in 1975. It is the means to receive and distribute charitable contributions from our members, fundraising activities of the club, members of other Rotary clubs, businesses and the public.
Our foundation is governed by a board of directors consisting of past and current senior leadership of the Rotary Club of Tucson, so your contributions are managed by those you trust to put them to the best possible use.
The foundation board exercises its fiduciary responsibility to ensure that all investments and transactions are within the requirements of the bylaws and investment policy statement of the foundation and the requirements for charitable giving as required by the Internal Revenue Service. The foundation's Investment Committee is made up of club members with experience in the financial management industry.
Through the foundation's Grants Committee, requests for proposals are offered to local nonprofits and through a competitive process. The foundation and Rotary Club of Tucson Board and membership vote on the final distribution of funds for local programs and services.
International projects are accomplished by combining funds with Rotary International and other Rotary clubs so as to increase the impact Rotary projects have throughout the world. The importance and efficacy of the international process are that every project that is funded, is administered by a local Rotary Club, ensuring that the funds are spent properly and goods and services are purchased locally in the community.
Recent recipients in recent years of local and international projects have included: Reading Seed Children's Literacy Program, Make Way for Books, University of Arizona and Pima Community College scholarship program, a wheelchair factory and distribution center in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, water wells in Africa, schools in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico, school supplies in Zarqa, Jordan and a lighting project in Tanzania.
The Rotary Club of Tucson Foundation is the vehicle that puts gears into motion to improve the quality of life for people locally, nationally and around the world.
