When Pima College women’s basketball coach Todd Holthaus began unofficial preseason drills recently, he surely missed two-time first-team NJCAA All-America point guard Sydni Stallworth. But Holthaus surely left the Pima campus with a smile: Freshman point guard JJ Nakai of Flagstaff’s Coconino High School made an immediate impact, a point guard with a motor who plays the same way Stallworth played: full speed ahead. Nakai led Coconino to a 27-5 record with 7.1 assists and 23 points per game. She made 72 3-pointers for the state semifinalist.
Pima women's basketball should be in fine shape with JJ Nakai
Pima women’s basketball coach Todd Holthaus led his team to a 28-8 record last season and a third-place finish at the national tournament.
