ExpressJet Airlines, having just cut two nonstop destinations from its Tucson roster, will cut three more this summer, the company confirmed today.
ExpressJet’s cuts in Tucson are part of a nationwide strategy to reduce branded flights by 30 percent. The cuts come as fuel prices have soared to record levels, forcing airlines to cut costs.
The discontinued destinations from Tucson include: Austin, Texas; Omaha, Neb.; and Reno, Nev.
ExpressJet cut its service to Spokane, Wash., on April 1, stopped its El Paso service March 31, and plans to reduce its two, daily flights to Sacramento, Calif., to one.
The new schedule begins Aug. 23 and will extend until at least November, the company said today.
