Charles H. Edmondson, a founding member of Universal Avionics Systems Corp., is retiring, the company announced this week.
Edmondson and the late Hubert L. Naimer founded the avionics company in 1980 in Torrance, Calif., before Edmondson moved the company to Tucson. Since then, it grew from 18 to more than 600 employees.
As the executive vice president, Edmondson oversaw Universal's worldwide operations. More recently, he served as senior corporate vice president and was on the company's board of directors.
Edmondson began his aviation career in Douglas in 1958.
