The board of directors for Valley Metro, the agency administering the Phoenix area's mass- transit system, has voted to increase fares for its bus and new light-rail service.
The cost of a one-way fare will be going up in July by 50 cents, from $1.25 to $1.75, and an all-day pass will go from $2.50 to $3.50. Those who pay cash on the bus will pay $5.25 for a day pass.
Corresponding increases for multi-day passes, express route tickets and Dial-a-Ride services are also in the works. A monthly pass will rise from $45 to $55.
