El Super, a grocery chain that targets the Hispanic market, has notified the Arizona Department of Economic Security that it has laid off 25 employees in Tucson.
Its first Tucson-area store opened in May at Southgate Shopping Center on South Sixth Avenue just south of Interstate 10.
The Tucson store, which includes signage in English and Spanish, hired between 130 and 140 employees prior to opening.
The Los Angeles-based chain is owned by Bodega Latina Corp.
