The intersection of East Broadway and Craycroft Road has been a sad little microcosm of the Great Recession with its vacant Mervyns, Circuit City and El Paso Bar-B-Que Co., all casualties of corporate bankruptcies in the last couple of years. So the nearly built BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse, which has risen at the site of the razed barbecue joint, is an especially welcome sign of life.
