Tucson Medical Center has purchased the Tucson Orthopaedic Surgery Center. The new name is TMC Orthopedic Outpatient Surgery.
The hospital and the Tucson Orthopaedic Institute had previously shared ownership of the center. But since the surgery center is moving into a new four-story tower being built on the west side of TMC, it made sense for the hospital to assume full ownership, hospital spokeswoman Julia Strange said.
TMC Orthopedic Outpatient Surgery remains affiliated with the Tucson Orthopaedic Institute and its physicians.
The center will move into the four-story building in 2013 and the ownership change should be transparent to patients, TMC officials said. For now the outpatient surgery center will remain at its current location, 2424 N. Wyatt Drive.
“Please join me in welcoming the staff to TMC,” Strange said.
