Fourteen Bashas' grocery stores in Arizona closed by last Saturday as scheduled, as part of the Chandler-based company's Chapter 11 reorganization, the East Valley Tribune reports.
Bashas' Inc., the state's largest privately owned grocery chain, announced in August that it was seeking bankruptcy court approval to close the underperforming stores, including two in the Tucson area: 100 S. Houghton Road and 12100 N. Dove Mountain Blvd. in Marana.
The company continues to operate more than 130 Bashas', Food City and AJ's stores.
