An independently owned video game store has opened on the West Side.
David Yordan opened Game Trader Jan. 12 at 2118 W. Grant Road, near North Silverbell Road, despite the slumping economy.
"The video-game industry has proven to be one of the most recession-proof industries," Yordan said.
While Yordan said he had worked in video-game stores in the past, he wanted to sell the electronics in a less-corporate setting. He'll accept trade-ins from old Atari and Nintendo systems of the 1980s, even if other stores won't, he said.
Business so far has been brisk, said Yordan, even though his advertising campaign hasn't started. Yordan started the business after completing a 12-week business-planning class at the Microbusiness Advancement Center.
