Walmart opened its 18th store in the Tucson area at 9260 S. Houghton Road, east of Interstate 10 at East Old Vail Road.
The new store, which includes grocery and general merchandise as well as a pharmacy, will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
A grand-opening celebration on Wednesday included presentations of $6,000 in grants from Walmart to local community groups.
The new store will employ about 200 full- and part-time workers. Store manager Lee Johnson began his Walmart career in 2002 as an hourly worker in the dairy department, the company said.
