Latin tapas restaurant coming to Westin La Paloma

Contigo Latin Kitchen opened at the Westin La Paloma in the spring of 2014, moving into the former home of Poppy Kitchen.

Chef Deborah Tenino's Latin tapas bar Contigo will reopen in the space formerly occupied by Poppy Kitchen at The Westin La Paloma Resort and Spa.

Tenino is opening the restaurant with business partner Nicholas Kreutz of Young’s Market Company, she announced on her Facebook page.

An estimated opening date will be announced later this month.

Resort officials have been looking for a new tenant to fill the 3,000-square-foot space since August, when Poppy Kitchen closed. The spacious dining room, which also housed Janos Wilder’s J Bar, is significantly larger than the original Contigo and features a large patio looking over the city.

The original Contigo at 1745 E. River Road offered wine, cocktails and small bites with an eye toward Latin America, serving rare dishes from countries like Cuba and Brazil. The restaurant closed in May 2015.
