Tombstone Federal Credit Union will merge into Tucson-based Vantage West Credit Union, Southern Arizona’s largest credit union, effective May 1, the credit union said today.
Tombstone Federal serves about 2,000 members through its sole branch at 218 S. Sumner St. in Tombstone. The merger transition will involve updates to the branch’s appearance, services, website and technology. The technology conversion is expected to be complete by July 1.
Vantage West said the merger will effectively add Cochise to the counties the credit union can serve through its state charter.
Vantage West is Southern Arizona’s largest credit union, with $1.3 billion in assets. The credit union has 16 branches in Pima, Pinal and Maricopa counties. Tombstone will be its 17th branch.
Vantage West will host a member appreciation day at the new Tombstone branch location from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, May 9.
