Arizona’s statewide average gas price reached a new 2016 high of $2.23 per gallon of regular on Thursday and was unchanged Friday, AAA says.
That’s up about a penny from last week, while the nationwide average slid about 2 cents in a week to $2.35 per gallon on Friday.
It still pays to gas up in Tucson, which kept the state’s lowest average price at $2.09 per gallon flat for the week.
Flagstaff had the state’s priciest gas at an average of $2.41 per gallon.
The cost of crude oil has moved higher over the past few weeks, but a strengthening U.S. dollar should help steady pump prices, AAA says.
