The Internal Revenue Service is now offering appointments for face-to-face service at the Tucson taxpayer assistance center.
Taxpayers can call a toll-free number, 1-844-545-5640, to schedule an appointment at the IRS Tucson help center, located downtown at 300 W. Congress St.
The IRS began taking calls on Tuesday for appointments starting Monday or later. Representatives can help resolve issues over the phone or schedule an appointment if needed.
The tax agency reminds taxpayers they should first see if their answer is available at IRS.gov, eliminating the need to be seen at a local assistance center.
The IRS said it is moving to an appointment service at the Tucson office as part of an ongoing effort to eliminate lines and reduce frustration for taxpayers with more complex tax matters.
