About 15 officers from the TPD and the University of Arizona Police Department were on hand to help the restaurant's wait staff and raise funds for the Special Olympics of Arizona by asking customers for donations. TPD Lead Police Officer Heather Mah said this was the first time in two years the TPD has participated in the fundraiser, being shut down due to COVID-19 measures. Joe Curran, Southern AZ Law Enforcement Torch Run Liaison, estimated that in the past events like this have generated $800 to $1,000 for the Special Olympics.

22nd Bridge work

Evening traffic speeds over the 22nd Street Bridge at Kino Parkway as the sun sets in September. Work to replace the nearly 60-year-old bridge is expected to stretch over the next three years, with construction to begin in Spring 2023.
