You don't have to be stuck in the house Friday if you don't plan on going shopping.

In fact, there are some pretty cool things to do that barely cost any money.

So, go out. Have fun. Don't shop.

Thanksgiving family circus

Green Fields School

Jasmine Romanov, 17-year-old senior, climbs an aerial silk at the Circus Academy of Tucson Thursday, April 6. Ten Green Fields School students from the 6th to 12th grades learned circus skills including aerial silks, trapeze, globewalking, tightwire, juggling and stilts as part of their Interim, a 45-year-old tradition. For this out-of-classroom activity students choose activity to participate in and prepare 8-minute presentation of their experiences to share at an all-school assembly.

Courtney Talak / for the Arizona Daily Star

Be active and have fun trying a variety of circus arts like juggling, globe, tight wire and more with the whole family.

The event is from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at The Circus Academy of Tucson, 400 W. Speedway. The cost is $5 per person or $20 for a family of four or more.

Go for a hike

Crested saguaro in Pima Canyon

Doug Kreutz/Arizona Daily Star

With weather like this, it would be a crime NOT to go outside. Even if it's a walk through your neighborhood.

We like hiking. And there are lots of places to go here.

The Pima Canyon Trail is a good one to take the family on. Well, for about three miles. After that it gets a little harder. You'll see desert vegetation and maybe flowing water.

To get there from West Ina and North Oracle roads, go east on Ina to Christie Drive. Take that north to Magee and turn east. You'll come to a parking lot at the trail head.
