The new year is about to gallop in.
Chinese New Year, that is. On Jan. 31, the Year of the Fire Horse begins.
But the celebration for it starts a bit earlier — Saturday, in fact.
The Confucius Institute at the University of Arizona and the Tucson Sino Choir plan big festivities at Centennial Hall, site of the 2014 Arizona Chinese New Year Festival.
Music — which the Sino Choir does beautifully — will float from the stage to fill the hall. While the Sino Choir would be quite enough, there is much more to be enjoyed.
The UA Jazz Band will play Chinese melodies punctuated with cool jazz sounds, and the Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus joins other choral groups from around the state to celebrate the new year with what we suspect will be mighty impressive sounds.
