• Party limos and shuttles operate on a bring-your-own-alcohol policy. It is legal for those 21 and older to drink while being chauffeured, but state law prohibits limo companies from stocking their cars with alcohol.
• Each company has its own rules, including a "no-puking" one that's enforced by many. Even if you throw up from something non-alcohol-related such as the flu, the ride will stop and you will be responsible for payment in full and a hefty cleaning fee — even if it happens 10 minutes into the ride.
• Food sometimes is not permitted in limos. Check with the company before bringing any on board.
• It is illegal to stand through the sunroof of a limo while it's moving, which is why many companies don't buy limos with sunroofs.
• It is customary to tip the driver 15 to 20 percent of the cost of the trip. Passengers often promise drivers a tip at the end of the night and then "forget." Drivers are hip to that, and that's not cool.
