Getting to the point: scoring
Rugby is a sport that developed at the Rugby School in England in the early 19th century.
Much like any other sport, the objective of traditional rugby is to earn more points than the other team during two 40-minute halves. Teams are made up of 15 players and a team earns five points every time a player places the ball in the opposing team's goal area. Two more points can be earned with a placekick from a line perpendicular to where the ball was placed. A placekick or dropkick from the field gets another three points.
Rugby is considered to be one of the most popular sports in the world. Earlier this month, the International Olympic Committee announced that rugby would return to the Olympics Summer Games in 2016.
