Daglio’s Cheesesteaks & Hoagies is no more.
The eastside eatery closed last Thursday, said owner Chuck Stopani.
He attributed the closure to high operating costs — from minimum wage and tax increases to the cost of importing food from the East Coast — that took their toll on the restaurant, 250 N. Pantano Road.
“We tried our best,” said Stopani, who previously ran Stopani’s, an Italian-American restaurant, on 22nd Street.
Stopani and Frank Santos opened the original Daglio’s in 2004 on North Campbell Avenue. He sold his half of that venture to Santos and opened the eastside Daglio’s in 2008. Santos opened Frankie’s South Philly Cheesesteaks in a different Campbell Avenue location in 2007.
