Throughout this season, we are asking outgoing Tucson Symphony Orchestra Conductor George Hanson to let us inside his Tucson. This week, he tells us why Sabino Canyon holds the fondest memories for him and his 12-year-old twin sons Max and Victor.
"Our first house was in that neighborhood and we used to take them up, at first in strollers and then we got them walking. The best thing was getting off the paved area and into the trails where we would discover all kinds of things like little, tiny streams of water. ... Exploring Sabino Canyon and seeing the boys' faces as they discovered a rushing stream and how cold it might be and yet we're in the desert ā that was exciting."
