'The Hangover 3' in Nogales, Ariz.

  • May 22, 2013
  • May 22, 2013 Updated Jun 6, 2015

In October, filmmakers made Nogales, Ariz., look like Tijuana, Mexico, when they filmed key scenes from the final installment of "The Hangover" franchise. The movie opens Thursday nationwide. Check out Thursday's Caliente to find out which Nogales landmarks you will see in the movie and how the movie inspired the border town.

"This movie should help us a lot in improving our image," says Nogales Mayor Arturo R. Garino. "If I could get a movie to come in once a year, that would be incredible." The mayor and his wife have small roles in the film.

A bench outside of La Cinderella on North Morley Avenue is the setting for a scene between Ken Jeong and Zach Galifianakis in "The Hangover Part III." Gregory Kory, whose family has owned the department and accessories store for 66 years, says tight border restrictions in place since 9/11 and Mexico's poor image have hurt local merchants.
