Wildcats: Celebrate University of Arizona homecoming week with these events

It's Homecoming Week, Wildcats!

More than 50,000 people expected to celebrate the 104th homecoming, which runs Oct. 21-27. 

Here are a list of homecoming activities coming next week:

5K Fun Run

5K Fun Run

Kick off homecoming week with a run, walk or a breezy stroll at the 5K Fun Run. 

Participants can donate non-perishable food items or a monetary donation to help our students on campus. One hundred percent of participant donations will go to the UA Campus Pantry, which works to reduce food shortage in the Wildcat community.

When: The Fun Run takes place on the UA Mall, 6 loops in front of Old Main to Cherry Ave.

Where: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21.

50th class reunion

There will be plenty of activities all week for the Class of 1968, including induction into the revered Silver and Sage Society for those who graduated from the University of Arizona 50 or more years ago.

Homecoming Luncheon

Homecoming Luncheon

Join friends, alumni, faculty, staff and students as they show their Wildcat pride, spirit and love for the university.

The luncheon will honor the 1968 reunion attendees and the Alumni of the Year Award winners.

Alumni of the Year Awards Ceremony

Alumni of the Year Awards Ceremony

The University of Arizona Alumni Association takes great pride in saluting alumni and friends of the UA for their professional achievement, humanitarian and public service, advocacy for education, distinguished volunteerism and service to students and the university.

At the awards ceremonies, colleges honor and highlight their most accomplished alumni. This ceremony is free and open to the public. Business attire suggested.  

When: 2:30 to 5 p.m., Friday. Oct. 26.

Homecoming Bonfire and King & Queen Crowning

Homecoming Bonfire and King & Queen Crowning

Join the Pride of Arizona marching band, UA cheerleaders, the 2018 Homecoming court, and of course, Wilbur and Wilma, at the annual Homecoming bonfire and crowning of the king and queen.

The program begins with a march from the Bear Down Friday Night Pep Rally at Main Gate to the Old Main fountain. After that comes the crowning of the 2018 Homecoming king and queen. The bonfire starts immediately after the crowning.  

When: 7:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26.

Where: West side of Old Main, University of Arizona.

GLOW: A Young Alumni Party at Homecoming

Listen up, recent grads!

It’s the first young alumni Homecoming party just for graduates from the last five years!

You can expect food, drinks, games, good people, photo booth and a DJ.

Where: Americano Mexicano, 800 E. University Blvd.

When: 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26.

Homecoming Parade

Enjoy one of the most well-known homecoming tradition — the parade — with more than 50 floats, the homecoming royalty and the Pride of Arizona marching band.

Wildcat for Life Tailgate Party — Open to the Public

Get ready for the football game with friends and classmates at the official Wildcat for Life Tailgate Party. The tailgate party on the mall is open and free to the public. 

There will be food, entertainment, a DJ, a photo booth and more. 

When: 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27.
