5 family-friendly Tucson activities for Memorial Day weekend
Staying in town this weekend? Here are five fun ways to keep the kids entertained in Tucson:
Hike and explore Sabino Canyon
Sabino Canyon Recreation Area will be open from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. all Memorial Day weekend. There are opportunities for hiking, biking, walking, horseback riding or simply exploring the plants and wildlife of the canyon.

Discover the animal kingdom
The Reid Park Zoo will be open on Memorial Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The zoo has over 250 animals and several new expansions to the park.

Cool off at Mount Lemmon, Summerhaven
Summerhaven, approximately 1,000 feet below the peak of Mt. Lemmon north of Tucson, will be open from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Memorial Day.
The Mt. Lemmon General Store & Gift Shop, the Cookie Cabin and other shops are located in Summerhaven for families to enjoy.
NOTE: The U.S. Forest Service has placed Stage 2 fire restrictions within Coronado National Forest, which prohibit campfires, stove/charcoal fires and smoking outside. For a full list of the restrictions, visit the Forest Service website.
Catch a new flick
Movie theaters will be open during regular hours on Memorial Day.
This weekend, "Top Gun: Maverick" and "The Bob's Burgers Movie" open in theaters.
Escape the heat by a pool
Pima County will reopen its public swimming pools over Memorial Day weekend. All nine pools will open on Saturday, May 28 and each pool's and splash pad's hours can be found on the Pima County website.
