7 new cocktails to try at Scott and Co.
Innovative yet playful drinks make up the spring menu at this chic downtown bar.
Slow Sipper
Downtown's chic cocktail bar Scott and Co., 49 N. Scott Ave., debuted a new menu of playful, yet fiercely ambitious drinks Thursday evening. Their spring selection features fun ingredients like macadamia nut orgeat and housemade plum sauce spiked with a maple vinegar. Prices, yet to be determined, range from $10-$12.

Shore Leave
The Shore Leave shimmers with Cocchi Barolo Chinato dessert wine and a fruity plum sauce rich with maple vinegar. Like a punch, the drink is spiked with van Oosten Batavia Arrack, an aromatic Indonesian spirit made from sugar and fermented red rice.
Post Script
The Post Script hits you with tartness from the lemon and Fernet Branca, and then builds with rich flavors of Cherry Heering and Old Forester Bourbon. Housemade almond orgeat syrup gives the liquid a heftier milky consistency.
John Cruise and/or Tom Travolta
The John Cruise and/or Tom Travolta is built around a silver unaged rye whiskey from High West distillery in Utah. Armagnac brandy and beer syrup laced with lapsang tea give the drink some heft, and a whole egg makes it frothy. The drink has an aroma of boozy butterscotch.
Guilt Free
The Guilt Free is basically a white negroni, with grapefruit-infused Hayman's Old Tom Gin and Dolin Blanc Vermouth. It's got a beautiful perfumed aroma and a nice herbal quality from the Amère Sauvage yellow gentian root liqueur. A few drops of saline brighten the flavors.
Giant Slayer
The creamy dessert drink the Giant Slayer features two types of Scotch: an Ardbeg Islay Single Malt and a blended Dewar's that's been infused with coffee. Smokiness peeps out from beneath sweet Creme de Cacao chocolate liqueur and Cherry Heering. It's finished with fresh grated nutmeg.
Loki's Travels
A tiki drink that's stiff with Scandinavian Aquavit, Loki's Travels is a true globe trotter. Green chartreuse and punchy pineapple and lime get rounded out by a macadamia nut orgeat syrup. But it's the housemade tobacco tincture that really puts this guy on the map.
