Devotees of Hot Lips soda — which is made with real Northwest fruit in Portland, Ore. — can now get their fix at Le Buzz Caffe.
The northeast-side eatery — known for its coffee and freshly made pastries including decadent cinnamon rolls — has been serving the sodas for a few months. They offer three varieties — boysenberry, blackberry and raspberry — in 12-ounce bottles at $3.25 apiece. The boysenberry soda we tried contained sparking water, “boysenberries grown in the Pacific Northwest,” sparkling water, cane sugar and organic lemon, according to the label. Because that adds up to 16 percent fruit, it’s best to tip the bottle briefly before pouring.
Le Buzz is at 9121 E. Tanque Verde Road. It is open from 6 a.m to 5 p.m. daily.
