The Sawmill Run Restaurant on Mount Lemmon is expected to open Sunday, months after a hoped-for November debut.
The restaurant, serving American fare with a twist, willoepn at 9 a.m. Sunday. Hours after that have not been set, according to general manager Gabriel Greenberg, who co-owns the Sawmill Run with developer Jim Campbell and longtime resident/businessman Bob Zimmerman.
The Sawmill sits on the spot that once hosted the popular Mount Lemmon Cafe, which closed in May 2009.
Although it will serve homemade pies, the Sawmill Run won’t be a pie place, Greenberg said.
The eatery is a reincarnation of the Mount Lemmon Sawmill & Co., a Summerhaven landmark owned by Zimmerman’s family. That restaurant burned down in 1977.
