The folks at El Coqui finished packing up their frying pans on Tuesday in anticipation of moving north.
The two-year-old restaurant is moving from its home at 5443 E. 22nd St. to new digs at 6151 E. Broadway, near Park Place mall.
Liz Gonzalez, who owns the restaurant with her husband Joseph, said she hopes to open at the new location in mid-Febraury - around the time they will celebrate their second anniversary in business.
Last summer the couple announced plans to expand their Carribean-influenced menu of dishes and move to a larger space at Crossroads Festival, on the northeast corner of East Grant and North Swan roads. But Gonzalez said that location fell through after investors and the landlord realized the costs to convert the space into a restaurant would be prohibitive.
