Southwestern filmmaker Charlie Minn’s latest documentary, “43,” opens Friday, Nov. 13, at Harkins Spectrum Tucson Spectrum 18, 5455 S. Calle Santa Cruz (I-19 and Irvington) for a minimum one-week run.
This documentary examines the kidnapping of 43 students from Guerrero, Mexico.
Last year, Minn came through Tucson with “Es El Chapo?” which also screened at the Harkins Tucson Spectrum 18. Minn, a part-time resident of El Paso and New York, told the Star that there was widespread skepticism after Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, leader of the Sinaloa Cartel and one of the most powerful drug lords in Mexico, was arrested in the coastal town of Mazatlán after years of evading authorities. El Chapo escaped earlier this year.
“43” is Minn’s 17th documentary since 2010. Minn said he has sold films to Lions Gate and Investigation Discovery, worked for NBC and Lifetime television, and produced for “America’s Most Wanted.”
