Friday, June 5, 2009 was a devastating day in Hermosillo, Sonora.
It is the day that a day care center erupted in flames after an adjacent warehouse caught fire. Forty-nine infants and children died.
While arrests and efforts toward justice were made, no one has ever been held accountable for the tragedy.
And documentary filmmaker Charlie Minn wants to make sure the devastation is not forgotten.
His film, “49 Angels,” is about the fire, the children, and the heartbreak and outrage that followed that awful day.
It is at The Screening Room this weekend and next. The director will be in attendance at the June 2-4 shows to answer questions from the audience.
The Screening Room is at 127 E. Congress St. Tickets are $10. Go to 49angels.com for showtimes and more information.
