For more than 50 years, Dean Armstrong spent his weekends at Li'l Abner's Steakhouse in Marana.
So it is only fitting that a memorial celebration of his life be held at the Old West-style restaurant, where Armstrong and his Arizona Dance Hands band had become a bona fide tourist attraction. Armstrong died on March 6 of pneumonia. He was 87.
Arizona Dance Hands, now helmed by Armstrong's son Larry, and Larry Armstrong's country group Copper Moon will lead the evening of remembrances and music from 5 to 10 p.m. April 16 at Li'l Abner's, 8501 N. Silverbell Road.
Arizona Dance Hands continues to perform weekends at Li'l Abner's.
