Hip-hop artist Mike Jones' claim to fame in 2005, aside from his clever lyrics, was his ability to play by the numbers.
Particularly, his phone number.
The Houston-based rapper included his working cell-phone number in several rhymes and on T-shirts, hats and other Mike Jones merchandise when he first emerged onto the scene last April,
"281-330-8004/ Hit Mike Jones up on the low/ 'Cause Mike Jones about to blow," rapped the artist in his hit "Back Then."
Nowadays, a call to the now infamous number is greeted with a "can't be completed as dialed" message, but Jones is still alive and kicking. He stops at the Rialto Theatre Friday, Jan. 6 to kick off a new year of hip-hop in the Old Pueblo.
The show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $36 in advance and $38 the day of the show through the Rialto box office, 740-1000.
