We can all assume that funk master George Clinton will indeed tear the roof off the sucker when he plays the Rialto, Tuesday. He can't be stopped.
Which is exactly why Broadcast Music Incorporated, one of the three major performing-rights organizations, is honoring the longtime musician with its BMI Icon honor at its annual Urban Awards gala next month.
Clinton is a trailblazer of funk. Together with members of the Parliament-Funkadelic, he's churned out more than four decades worth of hits, including "Atomic Dog," "Last Dance," "Do Fries Go With That Shake" and " Paint the White House Black."
Tuesday night's concert starts at 8. Tickets are $28 in advance and $31 the day of the show.
