Five for Friday: Which of these hot shows will you see?

Here’s five concerts on Friday, Dec. 9, that might have you flipping a coin to decide.

• Rockin’ it alt style with the Goo Goo Dolls: Frontman John Rzeznik and bass player Robby Takac bring their Buffalo, New York-born alternative-rock band to Desert Diamond Casino, 1100 W. Pima Mine Road. Expect to hear cuts off their 11th studio album “Boxes” as well as all those early hits — “Name,” “Slide,” “Home,” “Iris” — when they hit the stage. • Funky folk unplugged with Sister Solace: This vocal ensemble is tapping into the eerie cool acoustics at the Historic Scottish Rite Cathederal, 160 S Scott Ave., and some Appalachian and Eastern European traditions for its annual concert. It starts at 7:30 p.m. and it’s mostly an acoustic night with minimal accompaniment. It’s $12 at the door.
• Blasting the blues with Tinsley Ellis: When you think of The Rock, 136 N. Park Ave., you’re probably not thinking “Great place to see a blues act.” Well shame on you because we think the intimate space there, where more folks regardless of who’s on stage opt to stand than sit, is going to be exactly perfect when this veteran blues rocker goes on at 6 p.m. The show is presented by the Arizona Blues Heritage Foundation. Tickets are $12 in advance at azblues.org, or $15 at the door, with discounts available for Blues Society members.
• Funny things with Tig Notaro: The actress, standup, writer and downright inspiration — her blunt openness regarding her bout with breast cancer three years ago was instantly legendary — speaks from the hip about her life, your life and whatever crosses her rearview. She hits the stage at the Rialto, 318 E. Congress St., at 8. $25-$30 at ticketfly.com
• “Blue Christmas” down Lonely Street: Tucson’s favorite Elvis impersonator Robert Shaw and his Lonely Street Productions tip their hats to the King and his wonderful catalog of Christmas songs at Fox Tucson Theatre, 17 W. Congress St. Show starts at 7:30 p.m. and it’s $20 to $30 through foxtucson.com
